Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), the renowned program developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn, is the practice of mindfulness through meditation, hatha yoga, and gentle movement in everyday life to optimize our capacity to cope with stress, pain and illness across the lifespan. Through MBSR we cultivate a deep sense of awareness for being wholly present to each moment and, over time, the skills to better tap into our deepest inner resources for living fully and well. In the words of Dr. Kabat-Zinn, MBSR is “being in a wise relationship with your own experience … wise, benevolent and self-compassionate … a love affair with life.”
