Feldenkrais: Walking with Your Whole Self

Tuesday, 09/12/2017 6:45 - 9:15 p.m.
Explore, deconstruct, and relearn the basics of walking. Through experiential movement lessons we’ll nourish the neurological “roots” of walking by integrating our axis (spine, pelvis, and head) with our arms and legs, so we can walk through life with confidence and pleasure. Detailed description below.

This event is suitable for newcomers and longtime Feldies alike. It’s fully accessible as a stand-alone workshop but is designed to complement the ATM lessons included in Walking with Grace and Ease on Oct. 17, 2017.

This is a Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement (ATM) workshop at The Marsh, in Minnetonka, MN, just off I-494.

Detailed description:

This workshop will bring our intelligence and sensitivity to explore and improve one of our most basic human functions: walking. Walking is a boon for all ages—it provides exercise, builds bone, aids digestion, and reduces depression. But often, as we age and accumulate life’s injuries and sedentary habits, we lose touch with the pleasure of walking. This basic human function can begin to seem like a chore.

By restoring an easy, graceful gait nearer to our potential, perhaps we’ll find a taste of what Zen teacher Thich Nhat Hanh says about walking: we don’t have to walk in outer space or on water to experience a miracle…walking on the green Earth is a miracle

Bring a bath towel to fold for head support during mat lessons, and dress in layers. Students will be provided with follow up study information by email after the workshop.

A recent student in Nick’s Feldenkrais classes at The Marsh, Amanda Straka, 38, RYT, CPT, Thai Massage Therapist, says

I found Nick’s course valuable and eye opening. I am a instructor of movement myself, and this was my first experience with the Feldenkrais Method. It was a holistic and enlightening way to engage body/mind/breath connection. Nick is incredibly knowledgeable about his material, clear and concise in his direction, and truly passionate about what he teaches. No matter what your moving and/or healing path is, try his class, it open a whole new awareness for you.
