The Sanskrit word “yoga” means “union.”
The Marsh offers several different types of Hatha yoga classes,
each taking a different path towards union of soul and body. Students
move through a series of poses, or asanas, while focusing on breath
and awareness.
Gentle Yoga
This ongoing class emphasizes basic yoga poses for strengthening
and balancing, with slow breathing transitions in between. It
may include such non-yoga elements as stretching and core work.
A meditation adds to the sense of balance, awareness, and deep
relaxation.
Beginning Yoga
Following the Himilation system, this class is a gentle and comprehensive
yoga method leading to harmony of body, breath and mind. This
is a great beginning point for those who want to learn about yoga,
breathing, relaxation and basic yoga postures.
Intermediate/Advanced Yoga
Iyengar Yoga is classical yoga that is safe, sequential and progressive.
The asanas strengthen the body at all levels, including circulatory,
respiratory and nervous systems. You will reach a heightened sense
of awareness.
Water Yoga
All the balance and mindfulness of yoga is placed in
a serene aquatic environment. The water assists your ability in
holding poses while adding new challenges and twists uncommon
in studio classes.
