TRX Training at The Marsh

Quick TRX
Perfect for those with a limited amount of time, Quick TRX Training offers a full body workout in only 30 minutes. TRX (Total Resistance Training) is a fun, new way to use TRX suspension straps to stretch and strengthen your body and get your heart pumping. Quick TRX Training is currently offered at the following times. The number of classes will increase based on demand. Our Marsh X coaches will be there to motivate, encourage and support you every step of the way. Instructor rotates among the following exercise specialists: Heidi Inwood, Mike Bialick, Peter Elsham, Jennifer Dehn, Diane Pattridge and Kristin Turner.
  • Sundays, 4:15 - 4:45 p.m.
  • Tuesdays, 5:15 - 5:45 p.m.
  • Thursdays, 7:15 - 7:45 a.m. (beginning November 3)

Marsh X with TRX
If you like variety, you'll love Marsh X, now featuring TRX Training. This high energy class offers a variety of activities, ranging from cycling to jumping rope all mixed in with TRX Training. Push yourself to the level that makes sense for you. Our Marsh X coaches will be there to motivate, encourage and support you every step of the way. Instructor rotates among the following exercise specialists:

Pilates Mat/TRX Fusion Series

Pilates/TRX Fusion combines two fitness skills into one dynamic, energetic, full-body workout. Warm up with Pilates Mat movements, which will help you develop a strong core and good posture. Then focus on improving your strength, stamina and flexibility by using our TRX Suspension System, which challenges you to use your own body weight to strengthen your core, chest, back, arms and legs. Previous Pilates Mat experience required. Led by Lesley Koehnen, certified Pilates instructor. $95/Marsh members, $150/General Public for eight-week series.

Snowshoeing in January and February

Join us for snowshoeing on the well-groomed trails behind The Marsh. This is a great way to get outside and enjoy the wonders of nature. No experience required; a basic lesson is included in each outing. Led by Marsh Exercise Specialist Diane Pattridge. Saturdays, January 14 and February 4, 11:00 a.m. - Noon Wednesdays, January 18, February 15, 11:00 a.m. - Noon Bring your own snow shoes. We have a very limited supply available for rent at $5/$10 per hour. Interpretive Walk & Talk

Friday, May 18, 11:00 a.m. - Noon

Gather in the lobby to enjoy a walk of The Marsh grounds and a stroll through the Civic Center Marsh Woods to Jidana Park. Marsh Operations Director Tim Mortenson, Prairie Restoration President Ron Bowen and City of Minnetonka Natural Resource Specialist Janet Van Sloun will lead the way, sharing history, discussing future plans and answering questions. This hike includes a conversation about the plants put in the ground earlier in the day. Complimentary to all.

Nature Hike & Planting

We'll walk from The Marsh to Jidana Peninsula with City of Minnetonka Natural Resource Specialist, Janet Van Sloun. In the afternoon, we'll plant shrubs and wildflowers along the marsh and Jidana trail, restoring the woods to its natural beauty after years of buckthorn removal.

New! Yoga Calm I Training with Kathy Flaminio

Yoga Calm is an award-winning educator training program designed to help children reduce stress, improve self-discipline, focus, fitness and imagination. Based on five wellness principles, this program explores stillness, listening, strength, grounding and community, using simple yoga poses and breathing exercises. Open to teachers, social workers, health care providers and parents or grandparents who want to learn how to integrate Yoga Calm into a child’s life. No yoga experience necessary. Graduate or 12 continuing education credits offered.

Instructor Kathy Flaminio has been a fitness professional for 20 years and holds a master's degree in social work.

Dr. Zelickson Talks Melanoma

Dr. Brian Zelickson, M.D., Talks Melanoma on Tuesday, May 22, 6:30 p.m.

Skin cancer is the most common type of cancer in the U.S. and no form of skin cancer is more deadly than melanoma. Brian Zelickson, M.D., an internationally recognized expert on skin care, will help us understand skin cancer: what it is, when to see a doctor, risk factors, screening, treatment and the latest research. A native of the Twin Cities, Dr. Zelickson earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Colorado and his medical degree from the Mayo Medical School. He trained at the Hennepin County Medical Center, Mayo Clinic Graduate School of Medicine and the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. Today, he is a member of the faculty at the University of Minnesota Medical School's Department of Dermatology and director of that department's Electron Microscopy Laboratory. Mpls. St. Paul Magazine has repeatedly named him one of the Twin Cities' "Top Doctors". Register by May 18. $15/$20.
